Agatha Hiebert

May 24, 1928 — October 20, 2023

Our mom was a beautiful soul. We will miss her terribly. She had an exuberant personality, a ready smile, a friendly warm outgoing nature and a firm faith in Jesus Christ from an early age. This gave her a joyful song in her heart through to her final days. She was musical, participating in choirs, trios and even leading children’s choirs when her oldest kids were young. She instilled this love for music in her children and she and dad made it possible for all of us to pursue this in varying measures. Our home was often filled with people, warmth, food and laughter. She was organized and one who worked hard on the farm with all that entails, planting a large garden each year and cooking and baking for everyone all the time. Eventually when the older children went off to college or left home, she got her GED at the age of 50, and became a care aide at the Palliser Hospital in Swift Current and later, a psychiatric attendant at Swift Current Union Hospital. She was a devoted wife to our dad Jacob Hiebert for almost 60 years until his death in 2009. Her joy in life was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved to be involved and interested in their lives. She was beloved “Aunt Agatha” to her numerous nieces and nephews and a wonderful friend to many through the years. She leaves to celebrate her memory, her children:  Judi (Henri) Levesque, Bill (Eunice) Hiebert, Shirley (Don) Gillett, Carolyn (Roger) Neufeld, Jim (Lorna) Hiebert, Colette (Loren) Regier; 19 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren; her brothers, Ben (Helen) Rempel and Jake (Elsie) Rempel; numerous nieces and nephews and friends. She was predeceased by our father Jacob Hiebert, her siblings (Bill, Helen, Katie, Margaret, John, Susie) and her parents Wilhelm and Katherina Rempel. Many thanks go out to all the amazing staff at Bethany Villa who provided loving care to our mom.
