Hugh Lock

April 5, 1935 — October 20, 2023

Alvin Hugh Lock was born in Ogema, Sask. on April 5, 1935, and passed away on Oct. 20, 2023, in Saskatoon.

He grew up in many places in South Saskatchewan until 1952, when Saskatoon became his home. He became a Journeyman Pressman and printed the Western Producer for 40+ years.

In 1956, he married Irene Horvath, originally from Prince Albert, and raised a family of 4 sons. They enjoyed camping, especially in the school bus he converted. It held our canoe on top and bikes at the back. Heritage Lake Family Bible Camps were enjoyed every summer. He built and flew model planes. He coached hockey and sharpened many skates. He enjoyed singing Barbershop, and also led hymns at church services.

Hugh is survived by his wife Irene and 3 sons: Greg (Brenda), daughter-in-law Charlotte (Joe), Tim (Darlene), and Chris; grandchildren: Byron, Jennifer (James), Brianna (David), Loren, Ashley (Stephen), Dryden (Michaela), Trevor (Brianna), Soren (Brianna), Levi, Jensen and Tiara; great grandchildren:  Madison, Callum, Elijah, Ember & Webster; Hugh’s older brother Elwyn, and many nieces and nephews.

Hugh was predeceased by 2nd son Douglas in Feb. 1996 at age 36. His funeral was in Thunder Bay, Ont. He was also predeceased by his father Mont, mother Vera, sister Lois, brother Ray and daughter-in-law Shelley.

A Memorial Celebration of Hugh’s life will take place on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at the Saskatoon Church of Christ, 134 Cardinal Crescent, Saskatoon, Sask.
