Alvina Klassen

February 28, 1927 — July 22, 2023

Alvina Katherine Klassen (nee Neufeld), late, of Warman, Saskatchewan, was born to John and Maria (nee Penner) Neufeld, February 28, 1927. She was the second child and oldest daughter in a family of 11 siblings. She married the love of her life, Aaron Klassen, July 15, 1949. Together, they welcomed six children, Donald, Eugene, Joan, Verna, Brian, and Leona.

Mom lived her life as a prayer warrior with a servant’s heart. After Dad passed away in 1986, she had an increased compassion for widows, and was the chauffeur for numerous senior women. Many of her other ministries were done in the background, preparing treats for children’s club, serving on a variety of boards and committees, and washing many, many dishes, to name a few.

Mom’s heart for Christ was also quietly lived out through providing prayer support. Names of her family, missionaries, seniors, children, youth, and others landed on her prayer list, and became part of her daily routine. She prayed for many people who likely never knew that she was bringing them before the throne of God.

She always loved to read, but even more so in recent years when her ability to physically serve became limited. Christian romance was her favourite genre, and when she asked would say the most important part was that they were written with the clear plan of salvation. She was also a keen fan of Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, CFL football, and curling.

Mom’s health declined in recent years. She chose to not live alone, and after living in the same house for 60 years, moved to the Warman Retirement Care residence, then lived in Oliver Lodge in Saskatoon, and lastly, the Warman Mennonite Special Care Home. We, as Alvina’s family, are thankful for the care she received all along the way and are especially grateful for the thoughtful support we received in her final days.

Alvina moved to her heavenly mansion on July 22, 2023, surrounded by the love of family both far and near. She was predeceased by her husband Aaron, son Don, great-granddaughter Shelby, her parents, and all but one sibling. Family who will miss her and treasure her memories are children: Eugene and Marilyn Klassen, Joan and Ken Adrian, Verna and Alvin Buhler, Brian and Karen Klassen, Leona Klassen; grandchildren: Andrea, Debbie, Steve and Sarah, Clay, Lance and Eevanne, Merle, Leah, and Daryl, Jamie and Jeremiah, Derek and Elizabeth, Christa, Alana; great-grandchildren: Drew, Ethan, Sophia, Cooper, Thatcher, Audrey, Ben, Roger, Tessa, Wiese, Zoe, Brooklyn, Tanner, Blaize, Sophie, Lily, Scott; brother Glen (Linda); sisters-in-law Helen, Robin, Agatha; and many nieces and nephews from both the Neufeld and Klassen families.

Together, anyone who wants to and is able, we will celebrate her life Monday, July 31, 2023, starting with the Committal Service at the Warman Cemetery, 700 Central Street West, at 1:00pm. The Memorial Service will be at the Martens Warman Funeral Home, 402 Central Street West, beginning at 2:00pm. A fellowship time will follow. For anyone unable to attend, there will be a live stream – https://funeraweb.tv/diffusions/77491
