It is with our heartfelt sadness, that we announce Ann Klassen (Fehr) went to be with her Lord and Saviour on October 9th, 2022, at the age of 95 years. Mom was born on July 28, 1927, in the small village of Neuanlage, SK, to Jacob and Helena Fehr (Peters). Mom came from a large family which consisted of seven boys, seven girls and two siblings which died in infancy.
Mom attended Pembrook School until grade 8. She loved school and would have loved to continue, but back in the days, all the help was needed to assist on the farm. She would help her father peddle vegetables during the summer months in Saskatoon and enjoyed helping her mother cook and clean.
Mom was a wonderful cook and baker herself. Nothing like the smell of fresh baking when us kids would come home from school.
She started her first job at St. Paul’s Hospital at the age of seventeen and loved the wok she did there.
She met the love of her life, Cornelius Klassen, in 1943 and they married in August 1947. They had nine children: Allan (deceased former wife Brenda), Dennis (Audrey), Stanley, Gloria, Larry, Patricia, Jim (Sherri), Sid (Pam) and Cory (Ray-Nay). As well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mom lived her life in Neuanlage and Saskatoon, except for two years in Cape Breton, NS, when her husband Neil and family had been transferred there with Gulf Oil.
Mom and Dad were in a very serious accident in 1987. The family was told that Mom was not going to make it. But the trooper that she was, she did.
Both Mom and Dad vacationed during the winter months in Arizona for fourteen years.
Mom was a member of the P.H.M.C. for many years and loved working with the Ladies’ Aid and singing in the choir. Her love for God and the church was immeasurable.
Mom was predeceased by her husband in 2018 and her daughter Gloria in 2020. As well as her parents Jacob and Helena Fehr, two siblings in infancy, her seven brothers and three sisters, the youngest, Eva, passed away at 76 years of age in September 2022.
Mom is survived by her three remaining sisters, children, her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The Klassen family would like to thank the Staff at St. Paul’s Hospital, the Therapy Care Home, and the Strasburg Care Home, for their compassionate care of Mom.
