Aquilina Rosibel Quijada

February 1, 1960 — September 10, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Aquilina “Rosibel” Quijada Parada, age 63, announce her peaceful but sudden passing on Saturday, September 10, 2023, at her home in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Rosibel was born on February 1, 1960, in the city of Guatajiagua, in the department of Morazán, El Salvador. She was the beloved daughter of Maria Olimpia Rodriguez and Fabian Parada. She was married to Victor Trinidad Quijada Sandoval on October 21, 1978, in El Salvador and together they had three children: Victor “Hugo” (Kanndece) Quijada-Sawitsky, Sofia (Zlatan) Cilimdzic, and Ricardo Quijada (Jesse Parenteau).

Rosibel loved spending time with her four grandchildren: Samuel, Matteo, Adrijana, and Viktorija. She is also survived by her brother Andres (Glenda) Rodriguez, her sister Andrea Parada Rodriguez, and her mother Olimpia Rodriguez. She is predeceased by her husband, Victor, her father, Fabian Parada, her brother, Fabio Parada, and her sister, Santos Mirian Parada de Gonzalez.

In El Salvador, Rosibel enjoyed her work as an accountant and later lovingly transitioned to a homemaker. After coming to Canada in 1991, she ensured her joys in life (her family) adjusted well, so she continued as a homemaker. She also helped her husband with his work and kept meticulous accounting notes for him. She had a way to reach the hearts of anyone who met her as she was warm-hearted, loving, and full of life and laughter.  She loved to sew, sing, garden, listen to birds, and make traditional food from El Salvador. She even had a moment of stardom in the 1990s when she shared her favorite Salvadorian recipes in the Sunday Sun.

All who knew her, are welcome to join us on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at 11:30 AM at St. Mary’s Parish (211 Avenue O South) for a Spanish-bilingual Mass. This will be followed by a luncheon in the church immediately after the mass, and a graveside final committal at 2:30 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery (1502 2nd Avenue North).

For those unable to attend, Rosibel’s Mass will be available via livestream https://funeraweb.tv/en/diffusions/79401
