Basil Benton Chartier passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on August 16, 2023.

Basil was predeceased by his parents Gerard & Elizabeth Chartier, his beloved wife Alice, his brothers Rusty, Ronald and Ken, mother in law Susan Keller, brothers in law Raymond Sluzar James Keller and sisters in law Phyllis Keller and Georgianna Chartier. He is survived by his two children, Kim (Cathleen) and Karen (Dayton); four grandchildren, Alisa, (Justin) Megan, (James) Alexander and Christopher, and 2 grand dogs Wizard & Witch, 3 great grand dogs Sausage, Morty & Whiskey. One sister Yvonne, two brothers Brian (Linda) and Tom (Clara), one brother in law Harry Keller and numerous nieces and nephews.

Basil’s hobbies were gardening, stamp collecting, playing backgammon and especially a mean game of Chess. Basil was a voracious reader, it didn’t matter the subject, it could be any book, magazine or newspaper. And in his retirement Basil spent his time spoiling his grandchildren and grand dogs.

We as a family would like to thank all the Staff of the Preston Long Term Care Home for all they did for our dad to make him comfortable and happy in last years. In lieu of flowers  donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

A memorial luncheon will be held at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #63, 606 Spadina Crescent West in Saskatoon, Friday August 25th at 1:00 p.m. A private burial will take place in Rapid View, SK., at a later date.
