Our Dad, Grandfather and Great Grand Father Ben Wiebe passed away peacefully, after a short stay in hospital, on August 30, 2021.
Ben was born in 1935, to his parents Heinrich and Anne in the Rhineland area. Ben was the final surviving sibling of 14 brothers and sisters. He is predeceased by his wife and mother of his children Mary. Ben is survived by his wife, Nettie Isaac and her family and his three daughters; Susan Poth (Bert Poth); Sharon Champ (Wes Champ); Rhonda Smith (Mike Smith) and his seven grandchildren: Kelsey Magnus (Travis), Joe Poth (Christina Hempler); Emma Kerr (Brad), Hannah Champ (Behrooz Shafiee); Jacy Friesen (Adam), Jamie Smith, Liam Smith. He was the proud Great Grandfather to Scarlett Kerr; William Magnus, Quinn Kerr.
Ben worked hard his whole life. He started off as a telegram delivery boy as a preteen and laboured on farms and in construction as a young man. He spent many years with MacDonald’s Consolidated and finished his career at Dairy Producers Co-op.
He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family. Ben’s family has fond memories of many summers and friendships forged over campfires at Greig Lake. Ben and Mary purchased a cabin at Kopp’s Kove where he and Mary spent countless hours with their children and grandchildren.
After the passing of his wife Mary in 2010, Ben married Nettie Isaac in 2012. Ben’s family is grateful for the love, caring and companionship they shared in his final years.
We want to thank the empathetic, skilled staff on 6th Floor Medicine at St. Paul’s Hospital. Dad was treated with kindness and dignity. Ben’s family will celebrate his life with a private ceremony.
