With very heavy hearts, we announce that Blaine Kutney passed away on January 26, 2025, at the age of 70 years.
Blaine was a loving husband for 45 years to Valerie, and father to his prides and joy, Rhett (Karen) and Tyson and Halle, and Clay (Jersey and Embrie); his two sons and four grandchildren.
Blaine was a man of many talents; he could fix or build anything he put his mind to. Blaine apprenticed as an electrician, completed his machinist training, was a truck driver, side boom operator and a crane operator. Blaine built and customized Harley Davidsons, taking many trophies and awards with the Draggin Rod & Custom show, in his younger days.
He was a proud Local 870 operating engineers’ member from 1981 until his retirement. He and his Union brothers laid big inch pipe across the prairies.
Blaine loved to fish, hunt, and ride his Harleys. He was born in Yorkton and moved to Saskatoon with his family in 1972.
Blaine is survived by his loving wife Valerie; his dear sister Donna Lee (Les), Red Deer; and his twin brother Blair (William & Sarah, and Matt). He leaves behind his dear mom-in-law, many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and Godchildren.
Blaine is predeceased by his parents Norman and Helen Kutney, his father-in-law Joe St. Marie, Brother-in-law Leon, Sisters-in-law Michelle and Shelley, and Uncle Albert.
Blaine was a faithful man we know he is in the arms of Jesus. Until we meet again, watch over us.
Special thanks to Meg and Staff at the Heart Function Clinic, and to St. Paul’s Emergency and ICU teams.
