It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Brian Paine passed away peacefully at Warman, Sk. on January 21, 2023 at the age of 83.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra (Erickson); son Kevin (Valentina) and daughter Nancy (Kevin); grandsons, Jeff (Melissa) Debler, Kyle (Temesha) Debler, Justin (Amber) Debler and Patrick Paine; great grandchildren Emma, Austin and Darrian Debler, as well as sister Marlene Bowman, in-laws Trudy Apesland, Karon and Wayne Thompson;  Eric Erickson; Linda Paine and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends including Maggie Mann, who was like another daughter to Brian and Sandra.

Brian was born in Birch Hills, Sk. on January 8, 1940 to Harold and Eva Paine and grew up in Weldon Sk.  He attended the University of Saskatchewan to pursue his love of teaching.  Brian met his wife, Sandra at a dance in Candle Lake.  They married and the family eventually included three children whom he supported by working as a teacher/principal in various locations across Sk. and also Carmacks, Yukon.  Brian shared his passion for learning with numerous students over the years and had a great impact on many of their lives.  He loved and was so proud of his family and cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  The simplest pleasures in life brought Brian great joy.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and sports such as hockey, football and curling.  The Yukon held a very special place in his heart due to its untouched beauty, unique culture and history and also the many friends he made in this remote part of Canada.

Brian was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey; parents, Harold and Eva Paine; in-laws, Peter and Olive Erickson; son in law, Murray Debler; niece Heather Paine; brother Dick Paine; brother in laws, Jim Bowman and Stanley Apesland and sister-in-law, Eileen Erickson.

A funeral will be held in Sk. in the summer of 2023.

Anyone who so wishes, may make a memorial donation to a Parkinsons’ society of their choosing.

We will always carry your memory in our hearts.  As Dad would say, “Bye, for now.”

Cherished Memories Funeral Services was honoured to be entrusted with Brian’s care.
