The family of Carmen Eirich sadly announce her passing on July 10, 2023 in Saskatoon, SK.

Carmen was born in Courtney, B.C., on December 28, 1938, to Glen & Frederick Cawdell.

Her father was an RCMP Officer and moved the family from B.C., to Leader, SK., when she was a teenager. It was in Leader where Carmen met her husband Emil.

Emil and Carmen were married on October 11, 1958. Two years later they welcomed their first daughter, Jocelyn. Three years after they had a second daughter, Karen, and eight years later they had their son, Sheldon.

The family moved several times to follow Emil’s career as an elevator agent. Carmen was the first woman accountant for CIBC Bank in Mankota, SK. She worked there for several years until the family eventually settled in Saskatoon. There, Carmen was involved in real estate until her retirement.

She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, loved gardening, going to Good Spirit Lake, fishing, baking, knitting and crocheting. She loved to cook for her family on the holidays.

Carmen is survived by her husband of 64 years Emil, her children Jocelyn Vranai (Don), Karen Baynton (Marcel), Sheldon Eirich (Tracey), three grandchildren, Deanna Greer-Vranai (Taylor), Ashley Benson (Justin), Justin Thurstan (Hailee), one great grandson River Benson and numerous nieces and nephews. Carmen was predeceased by her parents Glen and Frederick Cawdell.

Carmen will be remembered for her feisty fun loving nature, her hearty laugh and generous heart. She leaves behind many memories and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Martens Funeral Homes is honoured to be entrusted with the care and arrangements for Carmen Eirich.
