With heartfelt sadness we announce that Carol Bignell passed away on December 18, 2023, at the age of 60 years. Carol was born January 16, 1963, in Haney, BC.
Her lifelong passion and devotion was to her pets, animal rescue, volunteering, and wildlife environment protection.
Carol became involved in equestrian pursuits, purchasing a horse after highschool. She was a trail guide in Osoyoos at Inkameep. She enjoyed spending summers camping with her sister and parents throughout the U.S. and Canada, and spent two summers in Guernsey, G.I. and Lancashire, where her passion for travel began.
In her lifetime, she lived in Australia, S.E. Asia, and Spain, with a multitude of trips to visit friend in the UK.
Her love for B.C. led to joining the outdoor club, developing deep friendships through hiking, kayaking, biking, snow shoeing, and camping.
Carol became a certified skipper in 2011, and subsequently sailed the Gulf Islands, Howe Sound, the Orcas Island, and Greek Islands.
She was a lifelong volunteer and advocate for the less fortunate creatures on earth, she has donated to her favorite charities: KSAR-Kabul Small Animal Rescue, HEEFS, Critter Core Langely, SOS Prairie Rescue Saskatoon, and others.
In keeping with Carol’s wishes, no formal service will be held at this time.
