The family of Carol Cheal (nee Perrin) sadly announce her passing on February 10, 2024. Carol was born and raised in Prince Albert Saskatchewan. Growing up Carol loved spending time at the family cabin in the summer. In the winter, you would find her skating with her siblings on the community rink behind their family home on 22nd Street. She also spent many Saturday mornings at her Dad’s Insurance office on Central Avenue pretending she was the receptionist. After finishing high school, she moved to Saskatoon with her best friends, working there for a year before moving back home.
On August 12, 1978 Carol married Darrell Cheal and joined him on the family farm. Carol transitioned from city girl to farmer with ease. She dug right into the farm work and took on many tasks from driving tractor to calving over the years. Carol became an expert groomer when they were raising and showing purebred Charolais as well. Now not all the farm occupants were loved equally by Carol, so when her in-laws moved across the road that was the end of the chickens on the Cheal farm! Carol encouraged diversity on the farm, this included organic practices when they grew Echinacea, there was also the fireweed harvesting a great deal of family fun and maybe a wee bit of whining took place during these family trips to harvest weeds in the bush. Through the years, they were blessed with three children: Brad, Katie and Christopher. Carol spent many years as a leader of the Spruce Home 4-H Beef Club while their children were members.
Carol took great pride in her garden and flowers. Many a bouquet went home with visitors from her beautiful flowerbeds. Carol spent many hours working with her mother-in-law Alice and as many family members as they could round up to harvest and preserve the produce from their bountiful gardens.
As much as Carol enjoyed raising their children, having grandchildren filled her with great pride and joy! She would take any opportunity possible to spend time with them.
Carol was predeceased by her parents Zilpha “Zee” and Carl Perrin; father and mother-in-law, George and Alice Cheal; brother Charles “Chuck” Perrin; niece, Leisha Klassen and nephew, Josh Sikora.
Carol is survived by her husband, Darrell; children, Bradley (Crystal) Cheal, Katie (Matthew) Wilson and Christopher (Samantha) Cheal; grandchildren, Casey Wilson, Lily Cheal, Reid Wilson, Abigail Cheal, Laura Wilson, Hannah Wilson, Bennett Cheal, George Wilson, Corbin Cheal and Cirilla Cheal; sisters, Kathy Bohach and Jean Klassen; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon(Eleanor) Cheal, Diana Childs, Linda (Garry) Cheal-Smith and Cheryl (Greg) Elliott as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a celebration of life at the Spruce Home Activity Centre (Trail Riders Arena) on February 24, 2024 at 1:30pm.
