Clara Kroeker

August 13, 1926 — October 20, 2023

Although we mourn the loss of a loving wife, mother and grandmother we celebrate the fullness of the life she lived and her deep faith and trust in God.

Clara was born to the late John and Justina Janzen and grew up in the Glenbush area. In 1945, she came to Saskatoon for work. She soon met and married Harry Schmidt. They were blessed with three children. Summer vacations were often spent visiting family in either BC, MB and ON. They had a good life together but unfortunately Harry passed away in 1983.

Clara met Benno Kroeker a year later and soon after they married. They enjoyed travels to Arizona, Mexico and Hawaii.  They moved into Bethany Manor in 1989 and made many new friends here. Mom and Benno enjoyed many years of happiness together but unfortunately Benno passed away in 2019.

Some of Mom’s favorite past times were cooking, baking, sewing and crotcheting.

She was predeceased by Harry Schmidt, Benno Kroeker, sisters Anne Wiebe, Erna Janzen, Mary Parie and brothers George Janzen and Jake Janzen.

Left to mourn are her 3 children Don (Joyce) Schmidt, Ed Schmidt, Shirley (Gord) Hounjet, 3 grandchildren Chad (Jenn) Schmidt, Jody (Chris) Clark, Tammy (Dave) Griswold and 7 great grandchildren. As well as extended family. Also by Benno’s daughter Dianne and her family.

She is also survived by her sister Katie Baerg and sister-in-law Helen Janzen.

She will be missed by many friends at Bethany Manor and Cornerstone Church (formerly Mayfair Mennonite Church) which she has attended since 1950.

In April 2023, we moved Mom into Central Haven Nursing Home and want to thank all the wonderful caregivers who looked after her and made her days more enjoyable.

Thanks to Martens Funeral Home in Warman for helping bring Mom to her final resting place at Woodlawn Cemetery.

We will be having a very small family graveside memorial for Mom at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Those we love don’t go away

They walk beside us every day

                                    Unseen, unheard but always near

Still loved, still missed and very dear.
