Clifford Richard Loewen

December 29, 1946 — May 1, 2023

In Loving Memory of Clifford Richard Loewen, 29 December, 1946 to 1 May, 2023.

Cliff, as he was known to family and close friends, went to be with his Lord and Saviour, passing away peacefully on Monday, 1 May 2023, at age 76 years, at Rosthern Hospital.

Cliff was born in New Westminster, BC, to David and Selma Loewen, and through his growing up years their family moved occasionally, taking them from BC out to Ontario and back West again. Cliff’s latter teenage years saw him working alongside his Dad in the logging industry, falling large cedar trees on the west coast of Vancouver Island…a formative time with experiences that provided stories for years to come!

Cliff met his wife Dianne (nee Buller) in 1967, in Caronport, SK, where they were both attending school, Cliff returning for High School, and Dianne attending Bible School. Seeing the new adventures that lie ahead, Cliff and Dianne were married the following year, on 17 August 1968, and started their life together. Cliff took on different employment opportunities over the years ranging from driving very large dump trucks in the mining industry, which again offered many stories for retelling, to starting his own drywall business, “Seven L Construction” (a name that had family ties and meaning), to the hotel industry, and even working as a Chef…a type of work he loved to do, whether it be for a living or just feeding his family.

Cliff and Dianne had two children, Michelle (17 May 1969) and Richard (22 October 1971), and the family carried on the Loewen tradition of relocating every couple/few years as work or family life required, enjoying different locations in Beautiful BC, Saskatchewan and Alberta after the kids had grown up and moved out on their own.

Cliff is survived by his: wife, Dianne, and children Michelle Brekke, Richard (Sandra) Loewen; siblings Albert (Martha) Loewen, Gerald (Alice) Loewen, Robert (Janet) Loewen, James (Holly) Loewen; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Cliff is predeceased by his parents David and Selma Loewen, and son in-law Bruce Brekke.

The Memorial Service will be held at Hepburn Gospel Church, on Monday, May 8, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. and is available to watch online at
