Connie Roy, with family by her side, passed away on October 3, 2023, at Parkridge Centre, at the young age of 64.
Connie will be forever cherished by Paul, her loving and devoted husband of 45 years. She is survived by her children: Noel, Christopher (Ashley) and grandchildren Elliott and Bentley, and Sheena (James); brother Randy (Leslie); sister-in-law Emma; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She was predeceased by her parents, Elmer and Carol Friesen.
Connie grew up and lived most of her life in her birth city of Saskatoon. She supported her children’s activities for many years, volunteering with Scouts Canada, Girl Guides, and youth bowling (a sport she also enjoyed for many years) and led many babysitting courses. A proud school bus driver for 15 years, Connie always had a smile for her students, past and present.
Connie and Paul rarely spent time apart, enjoying both camping (in tents with their children, and later in their apartment on wheels) and traveling. In addition to visits to Mexico and the Dominican Republic, they drove across the continent, visiting all 10 provinces (most more than once!), 1 territory, and all 50 US states, with Connie amassing a formidable magnet collection. Connie loved amateur photography during her travels and could be seen constantly snapping photos of the scenery, especially waterfalls, she so enjoyed on those long drives. Connie, who loved roses, always said that her “spirit animal” was the wolf.
A come and go celebration of Connie’s life will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 2:00 – 4:00P.M., at Cherished Memories Funeral Homes, 591 Centennial Drive N., Martensville, SK. A private family Inurnment will occur at the Warman Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan or to the Parkridge Centre, in whose compassionate care mom spent the last 10 months of her heartbreaking struggle with dementia.
Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with the care and arrangements for Connie Roy.
