Cory Eugene Janzen

August 14, 1971 — December 1, 2023

It is with tremendous sadness that we mourn the loss of Cory, our beloved Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle & Friend. On December 1st, 2023, Cory passed away peacefully with his wife by his side at Saint Paul's Hospital at the young age of 52, due to cancer.

Cory is survived by his wife, Tricia Switzer, their son Mason Switzer, daughter Taylor Janzen, son Carter Janzen, step children Tegan, Bradey, Kaydis, Kailey, Jayce and Hayden, brothers Richard (Sandra) Janzen, Ryan (Jeanine) Janzen and Jay (Danni) Janzen, Beth & Paul Ellsworth, Mother in law Patty Switzer along with several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Jean Janzen.

Cory was born in Rosthern on August 14th, 1971, to Peter and Jean Janzen. He grew up on the family farm southeast of Rosthern. He spent his childhood getting into trouble with his three brothers and working hard on the farm. Cory's younger years were full of hockey tournaments, reffing games, football and yet even more hockey. Hockey was a passion for Cory, this is where a lot of quality time was spent with his father, who was not only his coach but his teammate, as well as his brothers.

Cory graduated from grade 12 at Rosthern High School in 1989. After completing high school Cory took a job with Costco, at the hope of a full time position Cory was given the opportunity to transfer out to Prince George, British Columbia, and of course his mother made the trip with him to make sure he was all set. It was during this time where he would meet the love of his life Tricia, not too long after they would get engaged and have their son Mason. They then decided to move back to Cory's hometown of Rosthern.

Cory's work eventually led him to Edmonton where he spent roughly another 20 years in the construction industry as well as the hospitality industry. It was during this time Cory became a Red Seal Journeyman, this was a huge accomplishment for Cory and one he was not quick to brag about. He was also the head of security at many establishments. That, he was quick to brag about too. Throughout these years, Cory became a father again this time to Taylor, Carter and Tegan.

Some of the things Cory loved doing, and was well known for was his dedication to a job well done, cooking, barbecuing, storytelling and fitness. There were many meals that left his family and friends full and bursting at the seams from laughter. He was quick to tell a story reminiscing of the farm, or a dust up he had on the ice ,oh so many years ago. The one thing that Cory loved more than most however was the gym. His dedication to the gym was unwavering and it proved as much when he was asked to do a photo shoot at the late age of 49. This was a huge accomplishment of Cory's.

In December of 2020, Cory started a new chapter in his life, Cory moved back to Warman Saskatchewan. As he had re-connected with the love of his life, Tricia. They joined their two families (Mason, Tegan, Bradey,Taylor, Carter, Kaydis, Kailey, Jayce & Hayden), and they made one interesting group! It was not long after he moved back that he got right back into the swing of things and got to work. He took a job with R & D Construction where he got to continue his passion of seeing the results of a hard day's work. Problem solving and creativity were Cory's strong suits and he loved to see a job well done.

As a testament of their everlasting love, Cory and Tricia were officially married on November 24th, 2023. Finally blending their beautiful and sometimes crazy family together, they’re forever one.

Cory will be sadly missed by all, and always in our hearts but never far from our thoughts. Those Sunday dinners at home will just be a little bit harder.

A Memorial Service is to be held at a later date.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with the care and arrangements for Cory Janzen.
