Darcy Gene Albert Ritchie

September 15, 1959 — January 10, 2024

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Darcy Ritchie, on January 10, 2024, after a short stay in palliative care at St. Paul’s Hospital, Saskatoon.

Darcy was born on September 15, 1959, in Saskatoon to Henry and Helen Ritchie. He grew up in the Westgate neighborhood where he made some great memories and lifelong friends. In 1991, Darcy married the love of his life Jeanine (Favreau). Together, they enjoyed acreage life near Warman, visiting with family (they were always so proud of their many nieces and nephews), and some travel to Hawaii, Mexico and Cuba before Jeanine’s untimely passing in 2013. Darcy’s heart was forever broken with this loss.

Darcy was a creative and detail-minded guy who was always a deep thinker. He was very handy, fixing things or tinkering, and loved to work with his hands whether it was with wood, metal, or vinyl. This talent guided a large part of his career in sign production.  He was proud of many of the signs he built and installed, including some of the U of S address signs and the large SaskPower plant building signs. Darcy loved spending time outdoors, be it walking his dogs on his acreage, fishing - particularly on Father’s Day trips, or ice fishing on his stocked dugout with family members. You could always find him with a book; some of his past times included a love of reading, curling, enjoying a cold Corona, or thinking up a new invention or business venture.

Darcy is survived by his mother Helen, siblings Darrell (Pam Tamblyn), nieces Breanne & Elise, all of Ontario; Karen Ritchie (Lou Walerius) niece Marissa Theriault-Piett (Jon) their son Noah & nephew Brett Theriault of Saskatoon; Brent (Sheri) nephews Riley (Jenna), Matthew, Carter & niece Makenna all of Saskatoon; numerous loving & treasured aunts, uncles & cousins and his faithful, canine companion of 10 years, Sienna.  Darcy is also survived by Jeanine’s (Favreau) family, Paul (Isabelle); Lawrence; Gilbert (Jay); Martin (Ming); Dan (Anne); Louie (Laura); Louise Esau (Len); Robert (Julie); and Georgette Scherr (Dhawn) along with many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Darcy was predeceased by his loving wife Jeanine (Favreau), father Henry Ritchie, grandparents and aunts and uncles from both his and Jeanine’s families.

The family would like to thank the Favreau families for their love and endless support for Darcy and our families during this difficult time. As well, a thank-you to the compassionate, caring doctors & nurses who cared for & listened to Darcy while in St. Paul’s Palliative care unit and to Cherished Memories Funeral Services and Crematory.
