Darlene Mcleay

Darlene Mcleay passed away after a two-month hospital stay from health complications. She is now free of any more pain.

Darlene was born in Saskatoon, Sk to Helen and Stephen Kudryk, along with three lovely sisters. Unfortunately, one was only here for a short time. She met Albert Mcleay and got married in 1975. They bought a house in Saskatoon, Sk.  Together they had a son, Clinton Mcleay, in 1975 and daughter, Jolene Mcleay, in 1980.

Darlene and Albert were involved in numerous car clubs, one of them being the Dragon’s Car Club. They loved to travel along to car shows with their Model T which got them started camping in tents. This led to a camper at a leased lot in Wakaw Lake. For numerous years this was their second home away from home. The love of camping was truly passed on to her family.

Darlene loved tennis and badminton and competed in various top tournaments. The love of badminton lives on in her family. She also loved volunteering at summer events, school field trips, and school functions. She was the lunch helper, and everyone called her “Lunch Lady”. Darlene worked at Massey elementary school as a teacher’s assistant. She adored the children and some still know her to this day.  She was also a manager at Burger King for many years and had so much fun. Darlene met lots of great friends through these activities.

Darlene loved her dog show family. Many still stay in touch to this day. Her mini horse and Finn, her dog, will miss her. She loved them dearly. She loved watching her grandkids with the horses, always remembering her younger cowgirl days.

Sadly, she was in an accident in 2010. She fought back from that like a champ, but this new life had lots of setbacks. Even so, she was always trying, and that trying attitude shows in her grandkids (a never give up attitude).

Even though her passing is tough. We need to be like her, be tough, and work our way through this time. Rest easy Darlene. You shine through your family’s memories and the great life you gave them. Thank you from your family and fur babies.

Darlene is survived by her husband Albert Mcleay, daughter Jolene Mcleay, son-in-law Caley Dokken and his mother Maretta Dokken, grandchildren Alyssa and Chantelle. She is also survived by her son Clinton Mcleay, daughter-in-law Jillian Olender, Michael Gossen (Candice, Chloe), Joanne Panko, Tony Panko, Kendra, Devlin, and numerous relatives and family, along with her mini horse, pet Finn, and numerous fur babies.
