With heartfelt sadness we announce that David Alan Hanna of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and formerly of Shaunavon, passed away April 7, 2023, at Oliver Lodge in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Dave was born September 1, 1932, in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan to Vernon and Clara (Anderson) Hanna, one of twelve siblings, and attended Mule Creek School. While working as Manager of the Credit Union in Kyle, Saskatchewan he met Helen Knutson, a nurse, who was working nearby at Elrose. They were married in 1956 and had four children, Trevor, Kris, Pat and Keith. During this time, the family moved to Shaunavon and Dave became Manager of the Shaunavon Credit Union. He also served as Mayor of Shaunavon for a time. He was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church. After Helen’s passing, he married Carol Armstrong in 1967 and gained another daughter Jodi. Dave accepted a position with Co-op Trust and the family moved to Regina for 6 months and then to Saskatoon where he worked for the Saskatchewan Housing Authority and then the Saskatoon Housing Authority until retirement.
He is survived by his sons Trevor (Dolores), children Nicole, Jolene and Kyle (Jack, Emma, Kate); Keith (Sharla), children Taylor (Luca), Everett; daughters Kris (Lee) Ryan, children Bobbi (Ahmed), Blain (Raquel); Pat; Jodi (Lyle) Janzen, children Alison (Sophia, Lexi), Bryce, Adrian (Kristi), Neil (Callie) as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service with Masonic Rites was held on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Saskatoon Shrine Club in Saskatoon with Funeral Celebrant Bernadette Schneider officiating. Kevin Hanna presented the eulogy. Interment of his cremated remains will take place at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery, Shaunavon, Saskatchewan.
