Robbie was born on the family farm near Kedelston, Saskatchewan, to Dorothy and James Robinson. During her years in the Service, she met and married Alfred Harder. Robbie and Al celebrated 64 years together.
Robbie showed her dedication to her community as an active member in Trinity United Church, Montgomery Scouting organization and fostering. The family back yard rink, ball diamond and the cabin at Cochin, hosted many friends and families. All enjoyed her chocolate chip cookies. In her 50’s, Robbie and Al led a co-ed Venture group on a wild 10-day canoeing, portaging, rapid shooting, camping trip. Robbie, at the age of 70, water skied for the last time, at Jackfish Lake. In their retirement years Robbie and Al learned to make jewellery, an ideal outlet for the buckets of stones Robbie liked to collect.
Robbie was adventurous and most comfortable in the outdoors, joining the boys and their friends in their adventures, collecting rocks and gardening. Robbie lived in the family home until the age of 99, then moved into House 9, Veterans’ Village in the Sherbrook Community Centre. Robbie’s gentle nature, wicked sense of humour, endeared her to resident’s and staff throughout Sherbrooke. Robbie was not defined by the roles of women of her time. Robbie was curious, kind and informed on current events with a soft spot for the underserved. Robbie’s life story is a beautiful tribute to her vibrant spirit and the deep connections she cultivated throughout her life.
Robbie was predeceased by her brother Don.
Robbie is lovingly survived by her son Douglas (Lynn) and their children, Jeff (Tara), great grand children, Kamryn and Tyler; Jill (Nadine); Ken (Kim) and their children Samuel (Tracey) Norah, Kathryn; Brian (Trudie) and their children, Goldie and Maggie; sister June and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
