It is with great sadness we announce that Ed Shier, dedicated father and papa, passed away on November 29 at the age of 64.
Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1960 to Raymond Lloyd Shier and Velma Tina Shier nee Peters. He was married to his beloved wife Kim on August 17, 1996. Together they raised 3 children and were delighted to have 3 grandchildren join the family.
Ed spent a number of years working with the Portage la Prairie School Division, but his true passion was spending time with his family and friends. He greatly enjoyed being a part of the community whether he was volunteering or attending local sporting events.
Ed was a huge sports fan, mostly hockey and football. Often cheering loudly for the Calgary Flames, and both the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Saskatchewan Roughriders! You could always count on Ed for a great laugh, he loved to tell jokes and funny stories. There was never a dull moment with Ed around. All who knew him will miss his infectious laugh.
Ed leaves behind to celebrate his memory, his loving wife Kim, children: Amanda (Chris), Ray (Brittany), and David. Siblings: Dale (Monica) Shier and sister-in-law Penny Shier. Along with three beautiful grandchildren: Violet, William and Isabella. Also, many relatives, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Ed was predeceased by his parents: Raymond and Velma Shier.
