Elizabeth Derksen

Elizabeth (Betty) Derksen (nee Hildebrand) was born on August 11, 1937, in Rosthern Saskatchewan, to Isaac and Margaret (Friesen) Hildebrand. Betty received her education in a one room school, grades 1 – 8. After school she helped on the family farm doing things like gardening and helping on the field. Betty was baptized on June 9, 1957, by Elder J. C. Schmidt and became a member of the Rosthern Mennonite Church.

Betty met Jake Derksen in 1958. They began dating and were married on April 28, 1961. To this union five children were born; Laverne, Verna, Dwayne, Sheldon and Jennifer, also 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her loving husband, Jake Derksen of 62 years and their family, Laverne and Kathie Derksen (Dylan and Tyler), Verna and Paul Brandt (Natasha and Leland, Emily and Charlie) (Michelle and Tyler, Lincoln) (Jessica and Quinn), Dwayne Derksen (Stephan and Jeanette, Elizabeth) (Shaun and Gen) (Shantel and Tim), Sheldon and Sherry Derksen, Jennifer and Cory Wiebe (Ashley) (Justin) (Jordon and Mikayla). Betty is also survived by 1 sister Mary Letkeman, and Jakes 3 sisters Anna Klassen, Elizabeth Guenter, Helen Peters and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty is predeceased by her parents, 8 siblings and their spouses, and 4 brother in laws.

Betty’s Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023 in the Hague Community Church, 202-3 Street, Hague, SK. with Pastor Henry Janzen and Pastor Ed Martens officiating. A Public Viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., prior to the service. Interment to follow at Warman Memorial Gardens, Warman, SK.
