Evelyn Hankewich

October 7, 1937 — January 12, 2024

Evelyn was born to Tina and Fred Osatchoff and grew up on a farm in the Langham District.  Evelyn was sister to Margaret and Frances. Predeceased by her parents, husband Peter, sisters & brothers in-law  (Margaret & Allan Brown, Ann & Stan Klopoushak, John Hankewich & Kerri Hankewich)

Family and friends were very important to Mom. She was always ready to help out when needed.  A true/steady friend, understanding ear and advocate for independence.

Evelyn is survived by daughters Gail Cutts (Stuart), Lori Karnes (Don), son Ron Hankewich (Katie). Sister Frances (Keith), sister in-law Mary Hankewich, brother in-law Terry Hankewich (Brenda), numerous nieces and nephews.

Baba loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kyla Cutts (Zach Aitken), Garrett Cutts (Stephanie Mah), Philip Karnes (Breann Kozun), Leah Karnes (Aidan Vooght), Rebecca & Zoe Hankewich. Great grandchildren Owen & Maeve Aitken, Eloise Karnes, Olena Vooght.

An avid gardener and cook, Mom enjoyed social gatherings, playing cards and getting together with family and friends. Later in life she found joy in traveling with her children.

Evelyn’s family would like to thank the staff at Healthy Life Care Home for the exceptional care Mom received for the last few months, staff at Luther Heights, and the medical professionals that were involved in Mom’s care the last several years.

A special thank you to her close friends Bea, Helen & Joan.

At Evelyn’s request there will be no funeral service and a private family dispersement of remains will be held later this year. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
