Garry Zacharias

With heartfelt sadness, we announce that in the early hours of Monday morning, March 20th, 2023, within a day of experiencing a stroke, Garry went to be in the presence of Jesus.

Garry was born on July 17, 1957, in Saskatoon SK. He is the second of five children born to Jacob and Sarah Zacharias. Garry married and had two sons Cory and Murray, who, along with the rest of his family, meant the world to him.

Growing up, Garry loved to play hockey and baseball. In his later years, he enjoyed a good round or two of golf with anyone who would join him. In these past few years, Garry took up a love for bird watching, much like his mom did. He also enjoyed feeding many!

Garry was kind, devoted and incredibly loved. “Once a friend, always a friend” was the way he lived, and it was obvious in the friendships he maintained over the years.

At an early age, Garry accepted Christ in his heart and vowed to live for Him. Life didn’t make this easy. He admitted to many shortcomings, wrong turns, disappointments, and things he wished he could have done differently. During the last couple years of his life, Garry’s understanding of God’s grace grew. He came to know that he was forgiven and loved unconditionally because of Jesus.

Recently Garry was diagnosed with cancer and as he worked with doctors and specialists to determine next steps, his faith only grew, giving him a deeper love and appreciation for his Saviour.

A private family interment will be held for Garry.
