Gustave “Gussie” Donald Schindel passed away peacefully the morning of Sunday, March 6, 2022. Gussie was born on December 18, 1959, in Spiritwood, SK.

In 1966, when he was 6 years of age, he and his family moved to Saskatoon where he attended John Dolan School. Four years later, the family moved again, this time to the farm located between Saskatoon and Aberdeen. In 1994 he moved with his parents from the farm to Erindale in Saskatoon.

Gussie worked for Sarcan for 20 years before he retired in 2018. Gussie loved snowmobiling, the Beatles, and Mr. Bean. He was a man of great faith and attended church regularly with his mother. After her passing, he would often attend with his brother Larry.

He will be missed by his surviving siblings, Marlene Cherwoniak, Percy (Audrey) Schindel, and Larry Schindel; his 2 nieces and 2 nephews and their families. Gussie was predeceased by his parents, Gus and Lilly Schindel, and his brother-in-law Herb Cherwoniak.

A Celebration of Gussie’s life will be held in the spring. Gussie’s family wish to extend sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff at Porteous Lodge for their compassionate care of Gussie during the last few years of his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gussie’s honour may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, 200-4545 Parliament Avenue, Regina, SK, S4W 0G3 or to the Porteous Lodge, 833 Avenue P North, Saskatoon, SK, S7L 2W3.
