April 9, 1932 – May 6, 2023

It is with great sadness the family of Harold Steckler announce his passing at the Hospice at Glengarda on May 6, at the age of 91.

Harold was born in Elstow Saskatchewan in 1932.  He took his schooling in Allan Sk. and moved to Saskatoon at the age of 16 for employment.  He met Mary Roth while working in Saskatoon.  They married in 1952 and were married for 62 years until Mom’s death in 2014.

Dad had an entrepreneurial spirit, was a talented woodworker and enjoyed many hours creating intarsia projects upon his retirement.  He was also a talented builder and built their first home in Saskatoon, and in later years built the family cabin as well as a home at Wakaw Lake.

Dad was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be remembered by sons Brian (Alice), Bill (Gloria) grandsons Mark (Bobbi), Matthew (Stephanie), granddaughters Maeghan (Jared) and Breann, great-grandchildren Novak, Niko, Jack, Emily and Claire.

He is pre-deceased by his wife Mary and daughter Linda in 2014.

The family wishes to thank the exceptional care given at the Hospice at Glengarda for their compassion and kindness during Dad’s stay.  Thank you also to Pastor Roy Hewko for his support over the many years Mom and Dad attended his church.

Funeral service will be held at Preston Community Church at 2216 Preston Ave S. Saskatoon on May 12, 2023 at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dad’s memory may be made to the Hospice at Glengarda www/stpaulshospital.org/foundation/campaign or to St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation – 1702-20th St. West Saskatoon Sk. S7M 0Z9.

Arrangements are entrusted to Cherished Memories Funeral Home.
