Harry Alexander Bacon

Harry lived Northeast of Marwayne, AB on the Bacon Homestead. He attended grade school in Marwayne and then attended boarding school in Kitscoty, AB where he graduated Grade 12 in 1951. Harry would walk home on weekends, each way was 24 miles. 

Harry applied and was accepted to the Ontario Veterinary College, which he convocated in 1960. Right after his convocation he moved directly to Meadow Lake, SK, and started his veterinary practice. Shortly after starting his practice, he met Rose Piche at a 4-H event. After a short courtship, Harry married Rose on December 30, 1960. Their family started quickly after with the first of 6 sons arriving in 1961. With their growing family, they outgrew their home in Meadow Lake and moved to an acreage Northwest of Meadow Lake, in the Fall of 1969, where Rose still resides.

Harry was a practising veterinary for 60 years, from 1960 to approximately 2020. He had a passion for all animals and the Meadow Lake Stampede, and the chuckwagon races. Dad’s love for animals was paramount in his life. His relaxation came from his own cattle ranch, where he bred and raised Hereford & Red Angus cattle. His grandson Travis is carrying on his legacy to this day.

He is predeceased by his Parents, Horace and Kathleen Bacon; Brothers, Dennis, Tom, and Kieth; Sister, Kathleen; and Son, Leslie.

Harry is survived by his Wife, Rose (married 64 years); Sister, Myra; Son, Dwight (Connie) and their Children, Mitchel (Josee); Step-children, Joanne, Candace (Ray), Arron (Adelle); Son, Michael (Diane) and their Children, Leanna, Chandler (Amorita), Larissa (Bill); Son, Bradley (Cindy) and their Children, Travis (Shauna), Braiellee, Taylor, Brayden, Austin; Son, Jason (Tracy) and their Children, Kimberly (Mark), Katherine (John); Son, Keray and his Children, Natalai (Justin), Stefan (Alysha), Andrew (Kellee), Luke (Faith), Jaycob. Along with many great-grandchildren. 

Harry's Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025, in the Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Meadow Lake, SK. His Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 202,5 in the Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Meadow Lake, SK.
