With heartfelt sadness, we announce that Henry Friesen passed away, on September 24, 2023, at the age of 85 years.
On August 27, 1938, Henry Friesen, the only child of Kornelius and Sarah Friesen, was born in Saskatoon and grew up in the village of Gruenthal.
He was eleven years old when his father passed away and he became the man of the house. He went out to work to support himself shortly after this, close to home at first and further away as he got older.
In the fall of 1956, he met a lovely young lady that became the love of this life. He married Mary Bueckert on October 11, 1958. Their love grew and they had four beautiful children: 2 girls and 2 boys.
He spent most of the past summer in the hospital and a care home before moving to North Haven for a day. He was a great provider, husband, and father.
He will be cherished and remembered by his family: daughter Kimberly Alexander (Barry Wolfe), daughter-in-law Brenda Friesen, daughter Pamela (George) Guenter, and son Kelly (Caroline) Friesen; 12 grandchildren Charles, Steven, Jolene, Marrissa, Kaitlin (Evan), Evan, David (Rachel), Paul (Marianne), Maria, Darcy (Matthew), Sara, and Cody (Elexis); 17 great-grandchildren with another arriving shortly. Henry was predeceased by Mary, his wife of 62 years, in 2021; his son Travis in 2019; his parents Kornelius and Sarah Friesen, and his stepfather Cornelius Friesen.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023, 10:00 am, at Bergthaler Mennonite Church, 206 2 St., Warman, SK. Interment to follow at Neuhorst, SK. Henry’s service will be available to view online at https://funeraweb.tv/en/diffusions/79943
