Jacob Martens

It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, Jacob Martens, who passed away quietly on July 10, 2024, at the age of 91 years. 

Jake grew up in Blumenthal area, then joined the Canadian Armed Services between 1952- 1956. He began working at University Hospital in 1956 where he worked for 30 years. He married Mary Peters from Blumenthal on July 1, 1958 and they lived in Saskatoon until their passing. 

Jake loved camping, fishing, golfing, bowling, and curling, and participated in those sports for many years of his life. After Mary passed in 2017, Jake kept close to home, hosting Sunday coffees with his daughters and grand-daughters every week, indulging some playtime with his great-grandsons, in person and over the internet, and visiting extended family with games and good company. Family was important to Jake, and he was always happy to spend time with his loved ones, especially in his later years.

Jake is survived by his daughters, Kathy (Ron)McRae, children Kimberly McRae & son Chase, Caitlin (Ricky) Dunley & son Dominic, Judy (Natasha Matthews) Martens,Val (Mike) Gwin, Karen Martens, his sister Eva (Pete) Ens, sisters-in-law Tena Martens, Nettie Miller, brothers-in-law, John (Anna) Peters, Bill(Carol) Peters, and by many nieces and nephews.

Jake was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Peters), his parents, Johan and Helena(Wiebe) Martens, siblings Helena, Katherine, Johan, Peter, Agatha, Abram, Cornelius, Anna, Gertrude, Wilhelm, and David, and numerous sisters and brothers in law.

A Viewing will be held prior to the service, on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024, at 10:00 a,m., at Martens Warman Funeral Home. 

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at Martens Warman Funeral Home, 402 Central Street West, Warman, SK.
