Jake Fehr was born on September 25, 1957, in Saskatoon, SK.
He was the last of 5 children born to Abram & Mary Fehr. Dad grew up on a small farm on Luthern Road just outside of Martensville, SK.
Dad attended school at Virtue Country School and later Dalmeny School.
Dad grew up working hard on the family farm and had a love for anything with a motor in it. He loved working on cars and tinkering on projects with his dad.
Dad grew up in a loving Christian home but made his faith his own in his early 30s after attending a Bob McLaughlin Crusade in Warman.
He was baptized upon the confession of his faith at Warman MB Church.
Dad had a heart for the lost and had the opportunity to go on some mission trips through The Way of the Master, where he worked with Todd Friel, Ray Comfort, and Kirk Cameron.
Dad met Brenda, our mom, the love of his life, through her brother Clint back in the summer of 1977. On July 22, 1978, they were married in Saskatoon, SK. In July of 1979, they welcomed their daughter, Cheryl into the world, and in July of 1981, they welcomed their first son Terry. Their youngest son Tom later was born in November 1982. Together they spent 46 loving years together and have been such a testimony of what true love really looks like.
Most of the years while their children were at home, they lived in Martensville, SK. In 2011, Dad had the opportunity to move a house to Osler and dig the basement for it. They have resided there since then.
Dad had a love for heavy equipment and began his career at Gerbrandt Construction, where he worked a short while before joining the team at Geransky Brothers Construction. He loved his work in construction, digging basements, doing demolitions, and water hookups. Dad was an incredibly hard worker, took pride in his work, and made sure each job was done picture perfect. He worked diligently for Geransky for almost 43 years. He loved each person he worked with and was deeply respected by his co-workers.
Dennis and Bonnie, Corey and Ryan, have been like family to Dad all of the years he worked for them. Dad especially grew to appreciate Crystal in the office as she helped him with all of his paperwork and she became like a second daughter to him over the years.
Dad loved spending time outdoors camping and hiking with the family, hanging out at the track, tinkering on cars, and spending time with the boys doing anything from watching old westerns to being willing to lend a hand with anything anyone needed help with. He loved going for walks and riding his classic bicycle around town. He loved listening to his daughter Cheryl play piano, and later on his granddaughter. Dad loved watching hockey and especially loved watching Terry and Tom play hockey when they were younger. His love for the game of chess has been passed down to his kids and now his grandkids. Family trips to the lake, Edmonton, and most recently Moose Jaw, were highlights for us all, especially Dad.
Dad had a great love for pie, especially Saskatoon Berry and the crust needed to be just so.
Dad was always selfless and put other’s needs above his own. This was shown through the many years of helping mom through her health struggles.
In November of 2022, we received the devastating and heartbreaking news that Dad had been diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer, which had spread to his bones. Dad fought extremely hard in his battle, never complaining, the pillar of strength for his family. He went to be home with Jesus, his Lord and Saviour on February 15, 2025. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A special thank you goes out to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul’s Hospital, who took really good care of Dad in his last days with us.
