James (Jim) Robert Paul Hampton

July 24, 1948 — July 7, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Robert Paul Hampton on July 7, 2024, at the age of 75. Born on July 24, 1948, in Lestock, Saskatchewan, Jim lived a full and vibrant life, dedicated to his family, his craft, and his community.

Jim was the beloved son of Henry Paul Hampton and Jean Margaret (Hampton) Riddle. He shared a beautiful life with his wife of nearly 51 years, Violet Hampton, who stood by his side through all of life's joys and challenges. Together, they raised two wonderful children. His son, Paul Hampton (Cissy) their sons, Ian and Ivan. His daughter, Nola Skaros (Craig) their sons, Jordan and Nate. Jim was predeceased by his parents Jean and Henry, his stepdad James Riddle and his sister Ruth Elizabeth Deyong.

A lifelong carpenter, Jim’s passion for his craft began early. At just 15 years old, he bought his first table saw, marking the beginning of a remarkable career and working hard to become a journey-person in carpentry at the young age of 19. Many of the projects he worked on still stand today in Saskatchewan and Alberta. Jim’s expertise and dedication to carpentry were not only evident in his own work but also in his commitment to mentoring others. He played a pivotal role in helping countless individuals achieve their certifications through the Saskatchewan Trade and Apprenticeship Commission, and the mentorship work within the 20+ years at the Saskatoon Provincial Correctional Center wood working shop, leaving a lasting legacy in the field.

Outside of his professional life, Jim found joy in simple pleasures. He loved carpentry, the outdoors, fishing, and spending quality time with friends and family especially his grandchildren whom he adored. He cherished the accomplishment of completing 3 years of Biblical Theology. His warmth, kindness, and generosity touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his loved ones and in the many lives he influenced throughout his career and life. His family and friends will forever cherish the memories they shared with him and the love he so freely gave.

His last few weeks were spent with the wonderful staff of St. Paul’s Palliative Care and to honour Jim’s wishes in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit, continuing his lifelong passion for supporting and helping others.

A celebration of life will be held at West Portal Church 3134 33rd Street West Saskatoon on August 8th from 1-4pm.

Rest in peace, Jim. Your spirit and love will remain with us always.

Martens Warman is honoured to be entrusted with Jim's care.
