With heartfelt sadness, we announce that John Desjarlais, passed away on September 27, 2023, at the age of 73, in Ile a la Crosse, SK.

John is survived by Vawn (George), Debbie (Victor), lil John Brian (Hannah), Hope (Leslie Tsow); Grandchildren Tegan, MariAnne, Trinity, Kelly Parker, Miley, Chase, Emily, Kyle, Colby, Zoey; Great Grandchildren Nevada, Zakari, Kyrie; Brothers Dwayne (Sharon), Lawrence (Bev), Sisters Alexina, Louise (Allen), Doris (Clarence); In-laws Tommy (Ida) Kyplain, Molly (Elsie) Kyplain, Cheryl (John) Hovdebo, Maureen (Rod) Belanger, Marie Adele Desjarlais, Denise Desjarlais, Janice Desjarlais; Adopted children Barry Opekokew SR, Tavia  (Dale) Shatilla, Colleen Laliberte; Godchildren Chuck Desjarlais, Dennis Couillonneur JR, Virginia Gardiner, Kendil Bouvier

He was predeceased by his Wife Marie Antoiette (Kyplain); Parents JeanMarie & Marie Rose Desjarlais; Nephew Mitch Belanger; Grandson Brandon Shatilla; Siblings Martin (Clara) Couillonneur, Joseph (Poots) Desjarlais, Pauline (Melchoir), Alphonse, Melchoir (Yvette) Desjarlais, Mugloire Desjarlais; Special Friends Delphine (Noots) Corrigal, Marie Agnes Desjarlais, Mugloire & Cecile Misponas, Jayme & Rodney McCallum; and Numerous nieces, nephews & extended family members. Special thank you to St. Joseph’s Hospital staff and his special Drs. Becky and Sieara.

Wake Services were held September 28 – September 29, 2023, at the Sakitawak Events Centre, Ile a la Crosse, SK. Funeral Mass was held Saturday, September 30, 2023, 1:00 p.m. at the Sakitawak Events Centre, Ile a la Crosse, SK.
