John Ens

May 4, 1938 — June 28, 2021

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of John Ens into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 28th, 2021. John was born in Carrot River, SK, to Peter and Mary (Wiens) Ens.

He is predeceased by his wife Anne, his parents, brother Jake, sister Kathy Andres, brothers and sisters in-laws, Tena Ens, Sharon Ens,  Melvin Janzen, and Reuben Boschman.

He leaves behind his three children, Joanne, Brian (Dolly), and Darss (Teena), grandchildren; Renee(Jared) Shaw and their 5 children,  Chandra (Philip) LePoudre and their 3 children,  Chris (Kim) Funk and their 4 children, Joshua (Morgan) Ens and their 2 children and Ethan Ens.  John’s surviving siblings are; Elizabeth (Herman) Enns, Pete (Lyn) Ens, Mary Boschman, Martha Janzen, brothers and sisters in law; Dan (Sharyn) Boschman, George Boschman, Susan (Merne) Fast, Mary (Marvin) Harder and numerous nieces and nephews.

In the summer of 1962, he met the love of his life, our mom Anne. They married on June 8th, 1963 and soon after started a family.

Dad worked various jobs when he was younger, spending a few years with Reimer Express, then Pioneer Grain Elevator, and eventually settled into being an Electrolux Salesman, many times achieving top sales Awards.  A huge highlight was winning an all-expense-paid trip to Hawaii in 1977 for he and Mom. Dad enjoyed our family summer holidays which were usually spent camping at various lakes, or trips through the mountains and to BC to visit family and friends.

Dad was an avid outdoorsman, taking every opportunity he could to spend outside. From an early age he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and had many stories to share of his experiences.  In the later years, as the hunting and fishing trips lessened, he relished in just being in nature, whether that was sitting outside under a tree having a cup of coffee, taking a drive down to the river, or sitting in one of our backyards. Dad loved the simple things in life.

Dad accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at the age of 15.  Faith was a big part of his life, and something he held onto through both the good and hard times.  Many times, with tears in his eyes, he shared very personal experiences of how he felt God’s presence in his life.  After 57 years of marriage, when Mom passed away in Nov, 2020, Dad was very lonely.   He found life difficult on his own, and looked forward to the day he and Mom would be reunited.   We just didn’t think it would be this soon.

Dad, you will be forever missed!
