John Moskwa

December 26, 1952 — July 25, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of John Moskwa announces his sudden passing. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dianne, along with their children Wes (Ashley), Matt, Jolene (Tyler) as well as his pride and joy, his grandchildren, Callie, Arianna, Marcus , Brielle, Jace, and Demi.

John was born on December 26, 1952, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. At 14 years of age, he moved to Hague, Saskatchewan, where he continued his schooling. After graduating high school he went to work where he started at Calgary Concrete. He continued his journey, gaining years of experience, finally landing a job for the City of Saskatoon, at the old Barn. During this time, he meet his partner in crime and love of his life, Dianne. They were married in 1978. At this time John had moved to work for the city by helping to facilitate what we now know as “Sask Place.” He spent 30 years working for the City of Saskatoon.

After his time with the city he went to work for the Western Development Museum, where he spent ten years before retiring. While most people would now retire, anyone that knows John is aware that this is not his style, so this now bring us to his new “retirement” running the Resort at Poplar Beach.

John and Dianne met at a house party in Aberdeen, Sask. It didn’t take long for them to realize that they were meant to be each others forever. John proposed to Dianne in 1977, and they were married August 25, 1978. They bought a home together in Olser, were they had their first son Wes in November 1983. Four years later in 1987, along came their second son Matt. It was just one month before Matt’s arrival that John and Dianne left Olser and purchased their current home in Warman. In 1991 along came their Third child, a daughter named Jolene. John and Dianne enjoyed 35 years in their current home, with a world of significant events happening for them.

This included Wes finding his true love Ashely, marrying in 2015, bring two wonderful grandsons, Marcus and Jace. Jolene finding her true love in Tyler, marrying in 2016, bringing 4 beautiful granddaughters. As well as Matt completing his degree in Auto Mechanics.

What can be said about John? Well, he was one of a kind. If it was broken he could fix it, if you needed him he was there. What made him smile? Simple, his friends, his family, and his pride and joy, his six grandchildren. He put his heart in all that he did. His life was his family and his work, he looked forward to going to coffee row, he spent many of his days thrifting with his grandkids, making them smile. He was their light and their reason, and that made him proud.

A Celebration of Life to honour John will be held Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 1:30 p.m., at the Brian King Centre, 202 8th Avenue North, Warman, Saskatchewan.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with the care and arrangements for Mr. John Moskwa.
