Jonathan Elmer Sargent

February 9, 1960 — August 18, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jonathan Sargent on August 18, 2024, at the age of 64 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Leanne and sons Tyrell (Morgana) and Graham (Brady), sister Laurie, brother Will (Karen), brother-in-law Hugh (Diann) and families, mother-in-law Ruth Sutherland and numerous cousins who were near and dear to his heart. He was predeceased by his oldest son Greg, and parents Elmer and Jessie Sargent.

Jonathan grew up on a farm in the Borden area and spent countless hours exploring the outdoors on his own and with his cousins. Jonathan loved the outdoors and all it had to offer, truly appreciating nature wherever he went. He attended Borden School and continued lifelong friendships with his classmates. Jonathan graduated from the U of S with a Bachelor of Education degree. Following this, he accepted a temporary summer position with Saskatoon Light and Power which turned into a 30-plus year career with that department.

Jonathan’s biggest joy was his family, driving his sons to and from many sporting and music activities over the years. Family trips were plentiful, including road trips and plane trips. Jonathan and Leanne were also fortunate to have made a trip to Europe and had several winter holidays to sunny destinations. More trips were planned but this was not to be, due to his declining health.

Jonathan was diagnosed in December 2023 and while he spent several weeks in and out of the hospital before his passing, he was also well enough at times to take one last trip to B.C. and to enjoy several visits with his family, many cousins and friends. He will truly be missed.

He was a kind and compassionate man who touched the lives of many. If asked how he was doing, he would reply “living the dream” right up to his final days and lived a life with no regrets.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Borden Community Centre on Saturday, August 24th, at 2:00 p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

His family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who have provided such excellent care to him over these past few months. Donations in his memory may be made to the St. Paul’s Palliative Care Unit or to a charity of your choice.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care and arrangements for Jonathan Sargent.
