Natalie Kathryn Peters (nee Slade)

July 5, 1951 – March 16, 2025

Kathy was born to Connell and Ilene (nee Falloon) Slade at Smeaton, SK, where she grew up on the family farm just south of town, attending school there from grades 1-10, then in Choiceland for grades 11 and 12. She was the only girl of the original 5 children with 2 older brothers: Neil and Donald, and 2 younger brothers: Daryl and Jeff.

Kathy drew her last peaceful breath surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren. Although we are saddened by our profound loss, we rejoice and take comfort that she has entered into an eternity with no suffering, pain or tears.

In 1965, when Kathy was 14, her dad suddenly passed away. After a couple of difficult years and with the help of her brothers and sisters, Ilene went back to school for nursing and upon graduation, she received a job in Rosthern, SK.

Ilene, Kathy, Daryl and Jeff moved there in the summer of 1969, and in November of 1971, Ilene married Vern Triol of Rosthern. Kathy then gained (and treasured) a second father, a fifth brother, Dale, and finally a sister, Melanie.

In June of 1972, Kathy married Alvin (Al) Peters and 10 days later, Al accepted a job in Uranium City, SK. While living there, their first son, Brett, was born in January 1973. Later that same year, Kathy and Al, along with Al’s brother Ed and his wife, Sandra, bought a dairy farm and returned to Rosthern, SK. This commenced Kathy’s career as a farmer’s wife where she would spend the next 10 years working alongside Al. During this time, their second son, Cody, was born in November 1975 and their daughter, Holly, in August 1979.

After the sale of the farm in 1982, the family moved to Nipawin, SK. For several years she was a full-time homemaker, she also took on the role of Secretary Treasurer and Office Manager for the Apostolic Church for 13 years. After this, she worked part-time positions at The Met store, Co-op store, and Credit Union. She spent the last 15 years of her working career at the Credit Union as a Member Service Representative.

In October of 2010, was the joyous event of the first Grandchild, Nathan. Three years to the day, in October 2013, came a Granddaughter, Isabella.

Kathy happily retired in 2016 and moved to Saskatoon, SK in 2017 to be closer to family, especially the grandchildren. Kathy was always an excellent baker but her new passion was baking cookies with Bella and playing games with Nathan. She hosted birthday parties and welcomed the kids dropping in with their friends at any time, always having ice cream and cookies available for them.

Kathy, as she was known to all who knew her, was regarded for her hospitality and friendship. She had a passion of caring for people as evidenced by the many children, young adults, and many others who cycled through her home over the years, many who remained life-long friends.

Through all life’s ups and downs, Kathy’s love for her savior and friend, Jesus Christ, was the foundation for her compassion, integrity, honesty and perseverance. She remained steadfast in her faith to the end.

Kathy was pre-deceased by her Father Connell Slade, Mother Ilene Triol, second Father Vern Triol, Brother Donald Slade and Sister-in-Law Paulette Slade.

Kathy is lovingly remembered and cherished by her Husband Alvin, Children Brett, Cody (Maria), and Holly as well as Grandchildren Nathan and Isabella. Her Brothers Neil (Brenda), Daryl, Jeff (Tamara), Dale (Kelly), Sister Melanie and Sister-in-Law Gilda, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, March 30, 2025, in Hampton Free Methodist Church, 2930 McClocklin Road, Saskatoon, SK.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care and arrangements for Kathy Peters.
