Kelly Laverne Thody

October 8, 1975 — April 25, 2023

It is with great sadness, the family of Kelly Laverne Thody announces his passing. He passed suddenly in his sleep, absent of any pain or suffering, as perfectly as Kelly’s passion for perfection would have demanded.

Kelly is predeceased by his Mother Darlene Thody, Grandparents Bert and Marg Thody, and Grandparents Frank (Rank) and Vera Honeysett, Kelly will be standing tall running into their open arms. Kelly is survived by his Father Butch Thody, siblings Cory (Charlotte) Thody, Niece Kylah, Nephew Dallas, Sean (Kim) Thody, Nieces Rylee, Kaitlyn, Baylie. Along with numerous Uncles, Aunties, and Cousins. Kelly’s immediate family extended to more than his direct blood, and through marriage family. Kelly’s friends religiously made time for him weekly to watch movies, play PlayStation, build RC cars, models, and place his action figures and keepsakes in his room just right, they were held as close to him as his brothers.

He had a very deep passion and love for a wide variety of things. Early in his life, He enjoyed summers with family and friends at Crooked Lake. Going for rides with his brothers on the homemade Tri Cart, laps around the lake being pulled by Dad in the Ski Biscuit, eating watermelon on the beach with Mom, and ending the nights around the fire telling jokes and doing skits were the simple things he enjoyed. Kelly loved Star Wars and watching the trilogy, He truly valued everyone coming over and watching it with him. The first thing his circle of PlayStation gamers always looked for when they booted up their systems was the message that stated “Turkster is now online”. The 25 steps that had to take place so you could listen to Tool on his sound system was a bit much, but Kelly would not settle for anything less than “perfect”. His love for RC, and supercars sparked another connection with his friends. He enjoyed the time he spent with everyone building, ordering parts and painting up the bodies to his vision. Kelly’s friend Derek took him to the Porsche dealership and let him design and pick out every detail bumper to bumper, on a 911 GTS. They waited 9 months for the car to be built and you could not get the smile off his face when he went for a ride or started talking about it.

Kelly’s love for his father was at a level that could not be explained through words. Kelly, with needs of his own, tried his best to put his dad’s needs ahead of his. Kelly had such a bond with his father words needed not be spoken between the two to know what each other was thinking or wanted. Kelly was well aware of the commitment it took to care for him and could not express his admiration and gratitude enough for his father’s dedication.

He will be greatly missed, but what will be missed the most is the witty humor and hard truths that he was not afraid to express. Kelly had a way with words, and you sometimes had to really listen to process the message he was getting across. He would tell you if you liked it or not, that was his beautiful nature. A celebration of life will be held for close family and friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Muscular Dystrophy Canada at https://muscle.ca/?form=GeneralDonation
