Kenneth George Metz

August 9, 1953 — June 11, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kenneth George Metz, who left us peacefully on June 12, 2024, at the age of 70. Born in Craik, Saskatchewan, on August 9, 1953, to the late Irma and George Metz, Ken was the eldest of six siblings.

Ken's life was a testament to his unwavering work ethic and profound dedication to his family. After many dedicated years working with CO-OP & Turbo, Ken pursued his passion in the construction industry, where he was widely respected for his leadership, assertiveness, and great craftsmanship. He climbed the ranks quickly, leaving a lasting impact on every project and person he worked with. His endless stories about job sites and buildings he worked on around the city, captivated many, showcasing his deep connection to his work.

On October 20, 1974, Ken married his beloved wife, Grace, and together they built a life centered on love, support, and generosity. Their doors were always open, providing a home and refuge to numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives in times of need. Ken's commitment to his family was unparalleled, and his actions inspired those who knew him.

Ken's blunt humor and the silly, numerous text messages he sent in recent years always kept his family and friends laughing. These moments of light-heartedness and joy were cherished by his loved ones. Ken leaves behind his loving wife, Grace, his children Shyla Smith (late husband Jon), Waden Metz (wife Megan), and Randi Heisler (husband Ryan), along with his cherished grandchildren Liam, Jackson, Aizik, Indiana, Finnigan, and Ava. Additionally, Ken played a pivotal fatherly role for his nieces Jodi and Jackie Troman, and his nephew Greg Troman, who lived with Ken and Grace following their mother’s passing. His legacy will also live on through the many lives he touched.

Ken was a man of great character and kindness, whose legacy of hard work, devotion, and family will forever be remembered. A private memorial service will be held in his honor. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care and arrangements for Kenneth Metz.
