With heartfelt sadness, we announce the passing of Laura Louise Parnell, on January 24th, 2023, at the age of 95 years.
Laura Louise Parnell was born October 22, 1927, in Toronto, the first of two daughters born 15 months apart. She met her future husband, Henry Muth, at a dance when she was 17, they married on her 19th birthday in 1946, then moved to Henry’s farm in Lafleche, Sask. They had three children: Elaine, Janet (Leah Jewall), and Tracy. Laura later moved to Regina and worked as a stenographer for the federal government, and a few years later to Edmonton, then Vancouver, where she became a real estate agent and landlord. She moved back to Saskatchewan for her retirement to be close to her grandchildren, where she took up scrapbooking and gardening.
Laura was a colorful personality in every sense of the word. She wanted to dress “like the most colorful flower garden or the best decorated Christmas tree,” and enjoyed all social situations, particularly dancing. She also enjoyed traveling, visiting Hawaii, Jamaica, Bermuda, Mexico, and Italy, and was particularly fond of cruises. One of her favourite pastimes was reading and in later years she loved to read to her grandchildren.
Laura was very outspoken, and you could always count on her to state her opinion in no uncertain terms. She lived her life in her own inimitable style and died of natural causes at the age of 95. She was predeceased by her beloved sister Daphne, and is survived by her three children, 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A private Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at a later date.
Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with care of Mrs. Lindsay.
