In Memory of
Leaha Dawn (Shawarski) Dowie
1979-2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Leaha Dowie, who left us on Tuesday, December 3rd, at the age of 45. Leaha was born on September 21st, 1979, in Saskatoon, to her parents, Bud and Veronica (Bomok) Shawarski. She attended Bishop Klien School and ED Feehan High School, where she graduated with honours. She then pursued post- secondary in Early Childhood Development. Throughout high school she worked at the Saskatoon Star Phoenix, The Palisades, and then she had the job of her life working at Clements Greenhouse. She began working with Marie Yandt, who had developmental disabilities, shortly after high school and developed a friendship that lasted until her untimely passing.
In 1999, she married the love of her life, Devrin Dowie, and together, they created a beautiful family: Nathan, Luke, William, and Jackson. Leaha’s devotion to her children was unwavering. She was a phenomenal cook, making everything from homemade bread to baked treats, and tasty meals. She was a very loyal, dedicated person who loved her family and the people around her, trying to make the world a better place. She poured her heart and soul into motherhood, leaving behind a legacy of love and nurturing that will never be forgotten.
She was very artistic, loved interior decorating, playing the piano and doing crafts. She used her artistic skills to develop a business where she started making beautiful jewelry, including custom earrings. Under the name Willow Designs by Leaha, she opened an Etsy shop, set up local trade shows, and saw her creations sold in shops across Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Alberta. Her earrings became a symbol of her creativity, dedication, and her unique identity.
Leaha’s warmth, kindness, and passion touched the lives of everyone she met. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Devrin, of 25 years, and their four children: Nathan (Maya), Luke, William and Jackson, her parents Bud and Veronica Shawarski, her brothers Michael (Lindsay) Shawarski and Justin Shawarski, her special friend Marie Yandt and numerous extended family members and friends who all cherished her deeply.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Parish at 3339 Centennial Drive, Saskatoon at 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 11th, with Father David Tumback officiating. Interment will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Krydor Saskatchewan, on Thursday, December 12th at 11:30 am with Father Godwin’s presiding.
Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
Leaha’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Martens Warman Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care and arrangements for Leaha Dowie.
