Leona Marie Durocher

December 16, 1940 — January 6, 2025

Leona Marie Durocher, a luminous spirit who graced the world with her kindness and love, was born on December 16, 1940, and departed this earthly realm on January 6, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy etched in the hearts of her family and friends, a poignant testament to a life well-lived and richly cherished.

Leona was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Dominique A. Durocher. Together, they wove a tapestry of love and support that became the foundation of their family. Her nurturing spirit flourished in the presence of their children, who were blessed to call her mother. She is survived by her sons, Ricky Bear, Gerald Durocher (and Della), and Dennis Durocher (and Carol), as well as her beloved daughters, Darlyne Cheze (and Alfred) and Debbie Benson (and Lynale). Each child carries forth the values and warmth instilled in them by their dear mother, a gift that will resonate through generations.

In the circle of her life, Leona was cherished by her siblings, Reta Piche (and Armand) and Alma Brodhecker (and Frank), with whom she shared bonds that transcended the trials of time. She was a beacon of strength and love to her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored.

Though her life was filled with immense joy, it was not without sorrow. Leona mourned the passing of her daughter, Selma Greyeyes (and Lawrence), whose memory will forever live on in the hearts that loved her. Among her dearly departed were also her grandchildren Kelsey Durocher and Travis Bear, along with her parents, Glecia Bear and Baptiste Bear. The loss of these family members left imprints on her heart that she bore with grace.

Leona was also preceded in death by her brothers Max Bear, Ernest Bear, and William Bear (and Sherryl), as well as her sisters Florence Bear (and Dave) and Edna Bear (and Herb). Though separated by the veil of death, their spirits remain interwoven in the rich tapestry of family history.

Throughout her life, Leona cultivated a profound connection with all who had the honor of knowing her. In her gentle way, she inspired those around her to approach life's challenges with resilience and compassion. Her legacy of love, faith, and togetherness will linger long after her passing, illuminating the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know this extraordinary woman.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with Leona's care and arrangements.
