Marge Ens

September 20, 1945 — November 8, 2023

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Marge Ens (nee Penner). She passed away at St Paul’s Hospital peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday November 8, 2023.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Peter Ens, children Sheila (Wade), Robert (Claire), Shelley (Ken), Sharon (Greg), Rodney (Codi), 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her son Ronald Ens (1985), brother John Penner (1996) and son-in-law Randy Perkins (2021). She was also predeceased by both her parents.

Marge was born near Hague in 1945 to John and Margretha Penner. She then moved to Saskatoon where she attended Westmount Elementary School.  She met and married Peter Ens in 1962 and together they moved to Martensville and raised a loving family of 6. Over the years, along with raising her family, she held many different customer service jobs including operating a daycare and working at Cadillac Fairview Parking where she made many lifelong friends.

With her sisters-in-law, Elaine Olson and Rose Ens, she spent many afternoons and evenings playing bingo and splitting their winnings. She enjoyed bowling with her immediate and extended family taking on the team name Odds and Ens’.  She also spent many evenings cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays with her family. Pete & Marge shared a fondness for all animals as evidenced by sharing their home throughout her life with 16 dogs, cats, a bird, hedgehog, hamsters, thankfully not all at the same time!

Her family thanks the staff at RUH and St Paul’s Hospital, especially the 5th floor observation team at St Paul’s who did so much to take care of our sweet mother and keep her comfortable in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diabetes Canada or a charity of your choice.
