Marguerite Clara Catherine Goblet

September 3, 1926 — January 12, 2022

It is with love in our hearts that we announce that Marguerite Goblet had a peaceful transition on January 12, 2022 at Oliver Lodge, Saskatoon with her daughter, Monique, and son-in-law, Harmon, by her side.

Marguerite was born on September 3, 1926 in Berzée, a small village in Belgium. She valued education tremendously and, despite the setbacks due to the Second World War in Belgium, she persevered and obtained a Master’s degree in Mathematics in Brussels. Teaching was her profession and her passion.

Marguerite married a classmate from her university days and had two children. In 1968, Marguerite’s life took an unexpected turn when the family immigrated to Canada and settled in Saskatoon. She first had to learn English, and then rebuild her career. She incorporated both French and Mathematics as she taught in classrooms, small groups, and privately.

Marguerite was an active volunteer, contributing to the CFUW, Saskatoon Council of Women, Symphony Volunteers, and others. She traveled throughout Saskatchewan bird watching with the Golden Eagles club. Amongst her many interests, she loved house plants and had an amazing affinity to keep them thriving.

Marguerite is predeceased by her son Jacques, and is survived by her daughter Monique (Harmon) of Saskatoon, her grandsons Gabriel (Ashley) of Vancouver, BC, and Jo-el (Anda) of San Jose, California.

Marguerite was an inspiration to many as she kept active and involved. Her mind was sharp to the end, and she wanted to keep in touch with family and friends. She was always looking for a way to help other people. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

We want to thank the staff at Oliver Lodge for the kind, compassionate, and loving care given to Marguerite.

A virtual celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at 2:30 pm (Central Time). Friends wanting to attend are asked to send an email to   m.goblet@shaw.ca   so we can send you the details as they develop. Memories and stories can be shared with an email to   m.goblet@shaw.ca
