Marie Madeline Fleury

May 21, 1941 — October 14, 2024

Marie Madeline Fleury, a beacon of kindness, humor, and warmth, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024, in Meadow Lake, SK, at the age of 83. Born on May 21, 1941, in île-á-la-Crosse, SK, Marie's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and a profound connection to her family and friends.

To so many, Marie was much more than just a name; she was a cherished sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her joyful spirit and welcoming personality endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Marie took pride in her role as a matriarch and nurtured her family with unwavering love and compassion.

Marie is survived by her beloved sisters, Alice Couillonneur, Marilyn Cote, Freda Desjarlais, and Leona (Dominic) Durocher, and her brothers Brian Charland and Maurice Kyplain, all of whom gained strength from her presence. As a deeply caring mother, she left behind her daughters Florence Lalonde and Leona Fleury-Sutton, and sons Tom, Norman, Danny, Henry, and David. Each of her children carries a piece of her warmth and wisdom in their hearts.

Her special friend Harvey Sansregret was a source of joy and companionship. As a devoted godmother, she had a profound impact on Greg Brendan Couillonneur, who holds her memory close. Marie's love extended to her grandchildren—Katherine, Lovina, Stacey, Raylene, and Priscilla—along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who knew her nurturing touch.

Marie’s legacy also includes her cherished nieces and nephews, including Isabelle, Delores, Shirley, Lillian, Brenda, Michelle, Richard (Donna), Alvin, Bobby, Daniel, and Mitchell. Each of their lives was enriched by her infectious laughter and generous spirit.

Though Marie experienced the pain of loss, including that of her beloved husband Joseph Fleury, her dear parents Alex and Ernestine Desjarlais, brother Danny Desjarlais, daughter Dora Fleury, godchild Joseph McCallum (Tabby), nieces Brenda and Barbara Couillonneur, and granddaughter Blessing Desjarlais, she faced these heartaches with grace and resilience, always finding strength in her cherished memories and the love that surrounded her.

Marie was not only a beloved family member; she was the best friend anyone could ask for, particularly to Mary Rose Morin. Their bond exemplified the true meaning of friendship—filled with support, joy, and an array of unforgettable moments together.

The essence of Marie Madeline Fleury will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched. Her legacy of kindness, humor, and an open heart will continue to inspire those who knew her, reminding them to cherish each moment and spread love wherever they go.

Wake Services will begin on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the Our Lady of Peace Hall in Meadow Lake, SK.
