It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother Martha Murray on Saturday, January 20th, 2024. Mom was born on February 17, 1927 on the family farm at Grayson Saskatchewan.
Mom married Edwin Murray and they had nine children together. Mom was predeceased by our brother Donald in 1975 and dad Edwin in 2005, son-in-laws Jim Holland and Duane Peace. She leaves to mourn her children, Joan, Joyce, Gayle (Ed), Karen (Kevin), Lorne (Yvonne), Stuart (Earline), Brian, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many family pet dogs that loved her very much.
Mom saw and embraced many changes throughout her lifetime. She worked alongside dad on the family farm at Saltcoats, Sk. raising the children, gardening, canning, helping anyway she could to keep us all safe and loved. She was an avid reader, always learning and sharing her knowledge. Her sense of humour and quick wit was always on display. She loved her children, grandchildren and great children so much. She was a passionate advocate for us, always there for us and always willing to help anyway she could.
Her love for the outdoors, adventures, fishing, quading and camping trips was instilled in us at an early age. One of our fondest memories is seeing her and dad on the quad riding off to crop check before the sun set. The family quad trips to Hudson Bay and fishing trips to Lake of the Prairies were the greatest and most cherished family memories they could ever leave us with. Even in her 90’s she was always up for adventures with family; Brian taking her fishing, exploring, looking for wildlife and enjoying many scenic drives. We will forever be grateful to Brian for keeping mom safe, with never a dull moment and plenty of memories made.
Mom’s love was like a blanket embracing us and keeping us warm and safe.
Her smile and laugh were a reminder everything will be ok.
Her calm kept us grounded, that life goes on, no matter how difficult at times.
Mom you will be missed more than you know, you always persevered with determination, losing you feels like an end of an era. Thank you for being you, being there for us and now for watching over us from above.
It’s time for us to share you with Donnie and for Dad to take you for a quad ride. XOXO
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Martensville Care Home staff, residents and doctors and Martensville Cherished Memories Funeral Home.
Interment will take place at Saltcoats Cemetery at a later date.
