Mary Letkeman (Martens) was born on January 5, 1934 to Dave and Helen Martens in Mennon, SK. She was the oldest of the children. She grew up on the farm in what is now Martensville. She grew up in a Christian home and made a commitment to the Lord at a young age. Her faith and love for Jesus was strong and very evident throughout her life. On Feb 12, 1955 she married the love of her life-Art Letkeman. She was very committed to her family and always remembered to pray for each and every one, every day. She went through many difficult times, the most difficult one being the loss of a young son in 1962. She held various jobs over the years and her commitment to honesty and integrity was always in the forefront including realtor, youth care worker, and most rewarding was that of being a foster parent to well over 150 children, many of whom still kept in contact with her. She was actively involved with the history committee for the city of Martensville until just a few years ago when she lost her eyesight. She learned how to do Facebook just before losing her sight and continued providing biblical quotes and encouragements right up until the day of her passing. It was her way of reaching out to everyone.
She is survived by her 3 children, Dennis (Mary), Bruce (Ning), Bev (Alan), grandchildren, Andrea (Darren), Danielle (Curtis), Cara, Donald, Amanda (Ben), Amber, Tamara (Devon), Josh (Latoya), Chelsea (Derek), Sam, Zack.
