Mike Michalycia was born to Canadian Homesteaders Joseph and Dora Michalycia. He was born in Yellow Creek, SK on October 8, 1937.
His life on the farm in a large Ukrainian family taught him a strong work ethic. Mike was 9th in 12 siblings; from oldest to youngest, Anne (KULYK) KUCHERAN, Olga KORPAN, Sophie WOYTOWICH, Mary (MELNYCHUK) BAERGEN, Elizabeth RISULA, Jennie LEASK, Walter MICHALYCIA, Joe MICHALYCIA, Stan MICHALYCIA, Shirley GALAMBOS, Dianna MICHALYCIA.
Mike moved to Saskatoon where he met Anne, which was the beginning of his personal relationship with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Their friendship blossomed to a loving relationship. They were married June 3, 1961. They grew together in faith and love for the Lord and each other. Their journey in life took them internationally in evangelistic work in the United States then at home, in Saskatoon and around Saskatchewan serving the community of faith sharing their personal experience of life anew in Christ.
Here in Saskatoon, they raised their three children, Michael, Sherrie, Terrie; who learned by example a life of strong faith, work ethic and service.
Dad’s health deteriorated in the last few years of his life. His needs for the last 9 months required medical intervention. He lived his final months in the kind-hearted care of the TCU unit in Saskatoon City Hospital.
This was written in the pages of Mike’s Bible:
Left to mourn his absence is wife, Anne, of almost 62 years. His three children, their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
