Olga Cherniatenski

August 8, 1931 — March 9, 2021

August 8, 1931 – March 9, 2021

Olga passed away peacefully at St. Paul’s Hospital on March 9, 2021. She is survived by her daughter Nettie Cherniatenski, and her children Shaun-dean (Jessica) Dmytrowich and grandchild Logan Dmytrowich; and Shellaina (Robert) Goldenberg and grandchild Seth Goldenberg. Olga is also survived by her son William (Betty) Cherniatenski, and their children Melissa (Brandon) Hayes and Dana (Dan) Seppenwoolde and grandchildren Isabelle and Benjamen Seppenwoolde; along with Olga’s brother Oris Antypowich. Olga was predeceased by her husband John, son Alvin, sister Bertha Skopyk, niece Rosie Skopyk, and parents John and Nellie Antypowich. Our lasting memories of mom are simple, hard-working, passionate about her family and even though her health was an issue, she never gave up or felt sorry for herself and lived her 89 years with prayers. She learned to thrive in her own way, always keeping busy, working outside the home and extending her hours into the night baking, gardening and sewing. Her love for sewing next to being a perfectionist was the goal many of us would love to achieve. She always was an excited Baba looking forward to her four grandchildren taking turns coming up to spend the summer at the cabin in Greig Lake. Her love of going to family functions and catching up on the news of family and friends from days gone by, still showed today. Every week I would hear her talking to an aunt or cousins that she grew up with. After her stroke things in her life became limited but The Price is Right and CTV National News was hardly missed. In winter, curling took priority even if it meant staying up past bedtime. Travelling was less but we managed to squeeze short road trips in to see scenery outside the city.
She also had 2 favorite grandogs that she dotted over. As hard as it was for her, she would go to the vet to make sure they were ok. She would receive phone calls from the older great-grandchildren and the two smallest, pictures were sent to her on her tablet which she viewed and this made her smile the rest of the day. Mom, thank you for the many precious memories you’ve given all of us and the love and warmth we shared together during your time on earth. You leave a massive void in our life, but we will draw strength from your example. Memory Eternal – For We Live by Faith not by Sight.   2 Corinthians 5:7 A private service will occur Monday, March 15th at 1:00 p.m. at All Saints Orthodox Church in Meadow Lake with Rev. Fr.
