It is with heavy hearts that we announce Peter (Pete) Friesen of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025, at the age of 89.
Pete was born to David and Justina Friesen at home near Osler, Saskatchewan on August 20, 1935.
In 1958, he married Katherina (Tina) Thiessen of Gruental, Saskatchewan and they were together until her passing in May of 2020.
Pete is lovingly remembered by his children Russell (Sandra) Friesen and Colin (Sandee) Friesen; as well as grandchildren Taylor, Alex, David (Crystal), Terry (Trish), Jonah and his son Landon, Teanna, Melina and Julia; great grandchildren Cobe and Melody Lindenbach and Riley, Cloey and Lexi Landry; as well as sisters-in-law Mary Robson, Eileen and Anne Thiessen and Alma Friesen; and Pete's siblings Jack (Tina), Dorothy (Ross), Nettie, Sadie (Lance), Eva, Dan (Sylvia), Marge and Stella; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Pete was a very gregarious fellow and will be fondly remembered by all who had the opportunity to know him.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents David and Justina; daughter Shauna Lindenbach; grandson Noah (parents Colin and Sandee); brothers Dick and Dave Friesen; brothers-in-law Pete, Jake, Neil, Bill, John and Henry Thiessen; brothers-in-law Bob Flathers, Bill Reddekopp, Don Sutherland, Merton Schmidt, Cornelius Neufeld, John Willims, Fred Robson, Clarence Hildebrandt; sisters-in-law Betty Hildebrandt, Eva, Judith, Mary and Norma Thiessen; and numerous step siblings of the Ens family.
Pete was a hard working, tough, kind, loving and compassionate man. Other than his family, his passions were farming and sitting on coffee row trying to solve the world's problems with long term friends or strangers he just met. He was a good man and a great father.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the RUH nurses, doctors and personnel that took care of Pete in his final goodbye on this plane. Pete had an extensive extended family and his immediate family would also like to apologize in advance if we missed anyone during this trying time.
In her final moments, our Mom whispered to Dad, “See you on the other side” and he now has that long awaited opportunity. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.
Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with Mr. Peter Friesen's care and arrangements.
