It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Doug McIntyre, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather (Papa), and friend. Doug was born and raised in Wynyard SK, leaving in 1961 to attend Saskatoon Teachers College. He began his teaching career in 1963 with the Eston Elrose School Division in White Bear, SK, where he met the love of his life Carol Kerr. We were married December 27, 1966, spending a few years in Saskatoon while finishing his B.Ed degree, then off to Calgary in 1969 to continue his teaching career. 1981 brought us back to Saskatoon where he taught at Mount Royal Collegiate and Bedford Road Collegiate, retiring in 1999. Doug loved being in his classroom teaching mathematics, volunteering for many of the sports programs and of course the well known, BRIT tournament.
Spending our retirement years in Citrus Gardens, Mesa AZ was the best decision we ever made. Doug loved the park and his special place at the Wood Shop (where he thought he was the CEO) hammering out many unique tables, planters and gifts for friends and family. Now Doug has done it again, escaping before the snow came.
Family was very important to Doug and he was so proud of his daughters, Leanne McIntyre, Shelley (Derek) Tibbatts and 5 grandchildren, Kelsie (Jon), Terrell (Raniza), Zyvia, Jordyn (Taylor) and Jacob. His two great granddaughters, Zoie and Ruby had him wrapped around their precious little fingers.
Doug was a quiet, supportive, loving man with a very dry sense of humor, always willing to give a helping hand (and opinion) whenever and wherever needed. He will be so missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully ask you consider a donation to the Canadian Pulmonary Foundation (https://cpff.ca/)
Honoring Doug's wishes, there will be no formal service. Raise your glass and wave a “toot-a-loo”
Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with Doug's care.
